The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Engineering Authority to provide technical assurance, governance, and leadership across engineering activities within a complex, high-hazard operating environment.
This is a senior technical position with responsibility for ensuring engineering decisions are safe, compliant, and aligned with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice. Acting as the highest level of technical authority within your discipline, you will play a critical role in managing technical risk, maintaining asset integrity, and supporting safe operations throughout the asset lifecycle.
The role will also lead and manage outsourced Technical Authority and Engineering service providers while driving continual improvement across engineering governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the designated Engineering Authority, providing independent technical oversight and decision-making.
- Own and maintain engineering standards, technical documentation, and compliance processes.
- Lead the development and ongoing improvement of the Technical Authority Framework.
- Ensure SECE Performance Standards are maintained and allocated appropriately.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks, ensuring risks are reduced to ALARP principles.
- Lead and support hazard identification, technical reviews, and risk assessments.
- Provide technical guidance on asset integrity, operational safety, and lifecycle performance.
- Act as the escalation point for technical deviations, non-conformances, and engineering concerns.
- Support incident investigations and root cause analysis activities.
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering assurance and governance processes.
- Manage engineering contracts, suppliers, and outsourced technical service providers.
- Lead investigations using recognised methodologies such as Kelvin Top Set.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in an Engineering or Technology discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
- Investigation and event management training, ideally including Kelvin Top Set.
- Significant experience in a senior technical, engineering assurance, or technical authority position.
