Location: Barrow in Furness

Responsible for driving and sustaining comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (EHS) initiatives across the organisation. This includes ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and overseeing the development and delivery of training and certification programs for site personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

* To manage and monitor Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015 and 45001:2018).

* To provide advice and guidance on general matters relating to EHS.

* To follow and maintain existing EHS programmes, policies, and support and advise site staff.

* To conduct a range of basic risk and health assessment Audits and reports.

* To Lead on and co-ordinate Occupational Health activities.

* Update relevant reports and conduct some basic analyses of the information.

* Ensure that all incident records are kept in accordance with site and regulatory procedures.

* Co-ordinate and contribute to training activities to ensure that all required standards are met.

* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS performance and embed best practices across the site.

* Monitor and interpret changes in EHS legislation and standards, ensuring timely updates to policies and procedures.

* Function as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and external audits, ensuring readiness and compliance.

* Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including coordination of drills and training.

* Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and recognition programs.

* Promote and support sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental impact assessments.

* To carry our any other tasks within skills and capabilities

Scope

* Begin training to identify hazardous conditions and unsafe practices and actively contribute to developing solutions that reduce risk.

* Assist, under supervision, in ensuring full compliance with all applicable local health, safety, and environmental legislation across all sites.

* Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing EHS performance and culture.

Essential Experience & Skills

* Previous experience of working in a HSE environment.

* Ability to effectively manage and organise various documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.

* Strong organisational and multitasking abilities to manage time constraints and conflicting priorities.

* Proficient in using Microsoft Office suites.

* Full UK Licence

Qualifications:

NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma (Desirable) Client will fund qualifications if necessary.

Desirable

* ISO 45001/ISO 14002

* Additional certification in risk assessment, incident investigation, hazardous material s handling.

37.5 hours, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm Mon-Thurs and 8am-12pm Fri (Friday can be a WFH day)

Would consider a four day a week work pattern
