Female Rehabilitation Support Worker

Location: Barrow‑in‑Furness, Cumbria

Job type: Full‑time, Entry level

Salary: A GBP 16.00 – A GBP 18.00 per hour (Hands‑On Hours 07:00–23:00);
National Minimum Wage for Sleeping Nights (23:00–07:00) A GBP 12.21 per hour.

Overview

Provide supportive care for Hannah, a lady in her 30s with a brain injury, living at home with her husband and dog. The role involves encouraging therapy, assisting with daily living, and fostering independence and maternal responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Support Hannah to actively engage in prescribed therapy programmes.
  • Assist with personal care, domestic organisation, meal preparation, mobilisation, driving, scheduling and electronic device use.
  • Drive Hannah’s vehicle as required; hold a full, clean, manual UK driving licence.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, provide positive reinforcement, and be responsive to Hannah’s emotions and mood.
  • Plan and monitor recreational and leisure activities, ensuring suitability and risk assessment.
  • Help with dog care and maintain a cosy, comfortable home environment.
Working Hours
  • 24‑hour shifts: day and sleeping night, 08:00 one day to 08:15 the next day.
  • Fixed 4‑week rota with several shifts available weekly.
Client Profile

Hannah requires occasional hands‑on personal care and assistance in daily living. She has a strong sense of humour, enjoys socialising, has a mild visual impairment, and experiences fatigue and low mood. Candidates should be enthusiastic, fun‑loving, and able to support her independence.

Candidate

Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Motivational ability to create a positive atmosphere on challenging days.
  • Creative thinker capable of identifying new recreational interests and risk‑assessing them.
  • Experience working with clients with sustained brain injury (full training provided).
  • Experience working in a personal family home is advantageous.
  • Full, clean, manual UK driving licence.
