Our client, a leading entity within the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical/Welding Inspector to join their team on a contract basis in Barrow. This is a high-profile role within a critical industry, ensuring adherence to stringent quality, safety, and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical and welding inspections throughout fabrication and installation phases.
  • Review manufacturing records, welding documentation, and quality dossiers.
  • Witness hold points, inspections, and testing activities.
  • Verify compliance with project specifications, procedures, and applicable codes.
  • Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) where required.
  • Liaise with engineering, quality, and construction teams to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with nuclear quality requirements and site procedures.
Job Requirements:
  • CSWIP Welding Inspector certification (current).
  • PCN Level 2 qualification.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical and/or Welding Inspector within highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes, fabrication methods, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Experience working to EN 1090 standards.
  • Experience inspecting piping systems and associated fabrication activities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and technical specifications.
Desirable

Skills:
  • Radiography (RAD) qualification and experience.
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) certification and experience.
  • Previous experience within the Nuclear Industry.
  • Familiarity with nuclear quality standards, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Profile:
  • Detail-oriented with a strong quality mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Capable of working independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Comfortable operating in a highly regulated and safety-critical environment.
