Skills and Qualifications

Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Architectural Conservation, Historic Buildings, Archaeology, or related field

Experience
  • Knowledge of historic buildings and conservation issues
  • Report writing and archival research (mapping, primary & secondary sources)
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Familiarity with Statements of Significance, Need, faculty applications, and consent forms
  • Ability to assist in site inspections, photographic documentation, and condition surveys
  • Organized and methodical; team-oriented with willingness to learn
  • IHBC membership (or working towards it) is desirable

Job Description

As a Built Heritage Consultant, you will:

  • Assist in preparing Statements of Significance and Need
  • Support site visits, inspections, and fabric documentation
  • Conduct desk-based historic research using maps and archives
  • Draft planning documents, faculty applications, and statutory forms
  • Contribute to conservation appraisals and planning submissions
  • Collaborate with local authorities, DAC officers, and heritage professionals
  • Attend internal team meetings and external consultations (remote or on-site)
  • Maintain organized records and reports using studio systems
  • Embrace a collaborative, learning-driven team culture

Stay updated on workshops, design tools, and calls for collaboration.
