Overview
Vale of Glamorgan wish to appoint a Welsh language Learning Support Assistant to work at the Welsh Language Centre at Ysgol Gwaun y Nant in Barry and, when required, peripathetically throughout the Vale of Glamorgan to complement the existing team. This post will work under the guidance of the Welsh Language Immersion Teacher to deliver a peripatetic model of Welsh language immersion provision in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Pay Details:
Grade 5 SPC 8-12 £ 26,824 - £28,598 Pro Rata £13.90 - £14.82 Per Hour
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 30 hours per week, term time only

Description:
The successful candidate will support learners who are latecomers to the Welsh language and Welsh medium education, or those currently in Welsh medium education and requiring additional targeted support with their language acquisition. This role is integral to delivering the outcomes included within the Vale of Glamorgan Council's Welsh in Education Strategic Plan (WESP) and will support the commitments outlined in Cymraeg 2050: A million Welsh speakers.

You will need:
- To be fluent in Welsh.
- Experience of working supporting children and groups of children.
- Experience working independently and decision making.
- Good and sound verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and colleagues.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Patient and flexible personality.
- An enthusiastic and self-motivated person with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to relate well with children and adults.
- A person who sets high expectations.
- A neat and organised person who can prioritise work as needed and demonstrates a cutting edge.
- Willingness to accept responsibilities and contribute ideas.
- Willingness to continuously learn.
