Challenging Behaviour Assistant - Education and Training
We are seeking a dedicated Challenging Behaviour Assistant to join a supportive school setting in Newham, working with children aged 11–19. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping young people and looking to grow within education and training.
As a Challenging Behaviour Assistant, you will support students with additional behavioural needs, helping create a safe and positive environment. The position is based in Newham, offering valuable experience within the local community of Newham.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities- Supporting students with challenging behaviour throughout the school day, both in and out of the classroom.
- Working 1:1 or in small groups to help pupils manage emotions, regulate behaviour, and stay engaged in learning.
- Assisting teaching staff by implementing behaviour plans and personalised strategies.
- De‑escalating situations calmly and safely, following school behaviour policies.
- Monitoring student behaviour, recording incidents, and reporting concerns to pastoral or SEN teams.
- Encouraging positive routines, social skills, and respectful interactions.
- Supervising students during transitions, break times, and lunch to ensure safety and positive conduct.
- Providing consistent encouragement, praise, and structure to help students maintain focus.
- Liaising with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support student progress.
- Helping create a supportive, structured environment where students can succeed academically and emotionally.
