Job Description & How to Apply Below
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team and help develop and deliver stormwater monitoring, management and treatment solutions for municipal and commercial clients across the UK.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Stormwater Technologist will be responsible for supporting the design, specification, installation support and ongoing technical assurance of stormwater systems and associated instrumentation. The role will ensure safe, compliant and reliable delivery of projects and service activities while contributing to continuous improvement and strong customer outcomes.
What success looks like (12–18 months):- A clear, prioritised storm water product roadmap is in place (enhancements + new products), agreed with the Technical Manager and Storm Water Business Development Manager.
- Tangible portfolio improvements delivered (e.g., performance, maintainability, installation simplicity, documentation quality, whole-life cost).
- Tendering and sales teams are better enabled: faster, more accurate selection/sizing support; fewer technical clarifications in the bid cycle.
- Regular competitor and market benchmarking is established, with clear recommendations acted upon.
- Technical customer engagement improves: we are viewed as credible, helpful, and easy to work with.
- Support the technical delivery of stormwater projects, including site surveys, system design input, preparation of drawings, specifications and technical reports.
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and handover, working with contractors, clients and internal teams to resolve issues quickly and safely.
- Help specify and configure monitoring and control equipment (sensors, telemetry, samplers and related software), ensuring fit‑for‑purpose solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparation of risk assessments, method statements and HSEQ documentation, championing safe systems of work and compliance with environmental and quality standards.
- Collect, interpret and present stormwater monitoring data to support performance evaluation, troubleshooting and recommendations for remedial or optimisation actions.
- Contribute to the Voice of the Customer process by capturing client feedback, translating insight into improvement actions and supporting delivery of an excellent customer experience.
- Support the development of technical content such as product datasheets, installation guides, service instructions and proposals.
- Work collaboratively across engineering, operations and aftermarket teams to support spares, maintenance and retrofit activities as required.
Essential requirements for the role include:
- Experience in stormwater, drainage, environmental monitoring or a related engineering field, with practical understanding of stormwater treatment and conveyance systems.
- Competence with instrumentation, telemetry, data logging and basic data analysis; familiarity with SCADA or cloud‑based monitoring platforms is desirable.
- Proven ability to produce clear technical documentation, drawings and reports suitable for clients, contractors and regulators.
- Good working knowledge of health, safety and environmental practices and the ability to produce and follow risk assessments and method statements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Valid UK driving licence and ability to travel to client sites across the UK as required.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental, civil or water engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience working within regulated environments or with municipal water authorities.
- Previous experience with OEMs, aftermarket support or service delivery for water infrastructure products.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and guidance for stormwater management and urban drainage in the UK.
- Experience using CRM systems and project management tools.
The role will require regular site visits and the ability to work from our UK locations when needed. Hybrid working is supported…
