Join Newsquest Digital Media, the digital division of one of the UK’s leading local media publishers, and play a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of the backend systems that power our extensive network of trusted local news brands, helping to shape the future of digital journalism ’re looking for a QA Engineer to support the evolution of our digital products across a portfolio of over 200 high-traffic websites, serving millions of users each month.

This is a permanent opportunity, fully remote and open to candidates based anywhere in the UK. Please note, you must have the right to work in the UK.

Working as part of an agile, cross-functional team, you’ll be involved throughout the full product lifecycle, from initial requirements through to release. This role combines manual and automated testing, with a strong focus on improving quality standards and helping to evolve our automated testing capability. You’ll collaborate closely with product, UX, development and editorial teams to deliver high-quality, user-focused digital experiences at scale.

• Carry out functional and non-functional testing across digital products
• Create and execute manual and automated test scripts
• Prepare and manage test data to support testing activity
• Contribute to projects from initiation to ensure quality is embedded throughout the lifecycle
• Identify, log, track and clearly communicate defects and issues
• Support and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery within project phases
• Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of automated testing processes
• Support scenario and end-to-end testing based on user stories

• Previous experience in a QA or testing role within a digital environment
• Understanding of manual and automated testing approaches
• Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive, “completer-finisher” mindset
• A collaborative approach and a passion for delivering high-quality digital products

• Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP or Python
• Understanding of SEO and digital marketing principles
• Experience working across multi-brand or large-scale digital platforms
• ISEB or equivalent certification in software testing
