Relief Security Officer

Hours:

42 hours, 4 on 4 off day & night shifts

The Relief Security Officer provides security across multiple sites, protecting people, property, and assets while following assignment instructions. You must deliver high standards of customer service and work flexibly across locations. The role involves protecting property and premises by monitoring access, responding to alarms and CCTV, conducting patrols, managing traffic, maintaining equipment, and handling incidents. You will uphold health & safety by guiding staff and visitors, reporting hazards, keeping escape routes clear, monitoring First Aid supplies, and notifying the Operations Centre in emergencies.

You will help prevent loss & waste and prevent & deter crime by reporting theft or damage, reducing resource waste, operating communication devices, carrying out stop-and-search, and reporting incidents accurately. Strong customer service is essential, including assisting staff and visitors, maintaining professionalism, and handling calls effectively. Duties also include completing booking-on processes, paperwork, handovers, and tasks set by management, while covering both static sites and retail parks.

You will safeguard the site, ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and contractors, conduct foot patrols, monitor access control, stay alert to suspicious activity, take charge during challenging situations, and maintain high security standards. You should demonstrate competencies in managing and leading others, self-management, decision making, communication, business awareness, operational excellence, strategic thinking, customer and sales development, and relationship building and networking.

What we’re looking for:

• Willingness to cover shifts at short notice, fully flexible with shift work (days, nights, weekends).
• Valid SIA Licence.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and must be over 18, five-year checkable work/education history and no criminal convictions.
• Strong customer service and communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and sensitive to diverse needs.
• Previous security industry experience (desirable). First Aid qualification (desirable).
• Computer literate; able to use basic IT systems and access control software.
• Must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle due to site locations.
• Ability to travel to site within 45 minutes.
