About the role:

Flintshire is seeking an experienced Adult Social Worker (Level III) to join one of its frontline services. This is a senior practitioner role, reporting directly to the Team Manager, where you will work independently with complex and high-risk cases.

The post holder will demonstrate the ability to adapt practice from first principles, manage uncertainty, and make sound professional judgements — including decisions around safeguarding and compulsory intervention where required.

You will work within one defined function and identifiable area of practice, managing your own caseload and contributing to high-quality outcomes for vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake a wide range of community care and safeguarding assessments in line with statutory requirements
  • Assess and manage risk in complex or unusual cases, including high-risk safeguarding situations
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and review person-centred care plans linked to assessed needs and outcomes
  • Construct value-for-money care packages, commissioning services to minimise risk and improve quality of life
  • Work closely with service users, families, carers, and communities, enabling informed choice and decision-making
  • Manage an allocated complex caseload, regularly reviewing changing needs and service effectiveness
  • Promote independence, early intervention, and conflict resolution where appropriate
  • Liaise with internal departments, health partners, and voluntary agencies to support assessment and care planning
  • Act as an advocate for service users and carers
  • Maintain accurate records, update case notes, and prepare reports; provide court evidence when required
  • Supervise social work students, trainees, support staff, or volunteers where appropriate
