About Us

Early Help supports children, young people, and families by providing the right help at the right time. We take a strengths‑based approach, focusing on what is working well while building confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing. By intervening early, we aim to prevent small challenges from escalating into more significant difficulties. We pride ourselves on being approachable, compassionate, and inclusive, working alongside families in a supportive, respectful, and easy‑to‑access manner.

The Early Help Relationship and Resilience Service provides structured, intensive, time‑limited support to families, typically delivered over a 12‑week period with the possibility of a short extension of up to 4 weeks, subject to managerial agreement. Our work is guided by the PAACE model and underpinned by trauma‑informed practice, ensuring that support is both evidence‑based and sensitive to individual experiences.

The service works with children and young people aged 0‑18 and their families who may require additional support to overcome challenges and achieve positive, sustainable change. Our goal is to empower families to build lasting resilience, strengthen relationships, and embed long‑term behavioural change—reducing the need for future interventions and helping families move forward with confidence.

  • Ambitious – forward thinking, embracing new ways of working and investing in our future.
  • Open – open to different ideas and being accountable for the decisions we take.
  • Together – working together as a team that engages with our customers and partners, respects diversity and is committed to quality services.
  • Proud – proud of the Vale of Glamorgan; proud to serve our communities and to be part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
