Domestic Abuse Practitioner (DART Team)

Location: Barry, Vale of Glamorgan

Salary: £24,535 - £27,891 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm)

Contract: Permanent

Are you a passionate, empathetic professional dedicated to making a genuine difference in the lives of women and children? Join our team as a Domestic Abuse Practitioner within our Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) and help survivors rebuild their lives free from fear.

As a Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you will deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based, and needs-led support to survivors of violence against women, domestic abuse, and sexual violence (VAWDASV). You will act as a vital first point of contact, providing crucial crisis intervention, managing a diverse caseload, and empowering survivors to make informed choices for their future.

• Direct Survivor Support:
  Provide proactive crisis intervention, conduct risk assessments, and develop bespoke safety and support plans to help clients feel safe and understand healthy relationships.
• Housing & Advocacy:
  Explore housing needs, inform clients of their rights, and advocate on their behalf to secure safe, sustainable accommodation.
• Caseload Management:
  Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with GDPR, conducting regular case reviews to reassess risks and track progress.
• Multi-Agency
  
  Collaboration:
  
  Represent client interests in multi-agency forums, co-deliver regional Ask & Act training, and work alongside external agencies to ensure robust safeguarding.
• Empowerment & Signposting:
  Connect survivors with specialist community services and encourage active participation in engagement activities.

• Proven experience supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse, trauma, or complex needs.
• In-depth understanding of domestic abuse, VAWDASV dynamics, power and control issues, and barriers to fleeing abuse.
• Strong ability to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, manage risk, and handle crisis situations safely.
• Excellent organisational skills to manage a busy caseload while maintaining accurate, confidential records.
• Exceptional communication and advocacy skills with a commitment to trauma-informed practice.

• IDVA qualification or another accredited VAWDASV credential.
• Prior experience working within a specialist domestic abuse or VAWDASV service.
• Knowledge of housing rights, welfare benefits, and the civil/criminal justice system relating to domestic abuse.
• Experience participating in MARAC, safeguarding panels, or co-delivering training.
