Position: Early Help Advice Line Lead - Temporary / Fixed Term up to 6 months

The Early Help Advice Line is an integral part of the Vale of Glamorgan’s Integrated Front Door, “The Vale Family Compass”. We provide advice and support for parents, carers, and professionals in the Vale of Glamorgan, on a range of matters including health and wellbeing, family, housing, finance, and education.

Early Help work with children, young people, and families to give the right support at the right time. We focus on what’s going well, help build confidence and wellbeing, and step in early so small problems don’t become big ones. About

The Role

Pay details:
Grade 8 SCP 26-30 £ 38,510 - £42,123 p.a

Main place of work:
Barry Community Enterprise Centre (BCEC)

Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Working pattern:
Monday to Friday

Supervise a team of Early Help Advice Line Advisors who provide advice and guidance to professionals and families, initially by telephone and within the home environment in line with the Families First guidance, relevant national standards and local and national legislation and guidance.

Experience

About you

  • 4 years’ experience of working directly in Family Support
  • Experience of partnership work and working with multi agency teams
  • Experience of supervising a team
Knowledge
  • Principles of the Children Act 1989
  • Social Services and Wellbeing Wales Act (2014)
  • Good knowledge of child protection and an understanding of the referral process
  • Child development
  • A range of evaluation tools
  • The Welsh Government’s five year strategic plan, ‘Taking Wales Forward’ (2016 - 2021)
  • Wellbeing of Future Generations Act 2015
Skills And Aptitudes
  • Effective management and leadership skills
  • Ability to motivate others

Qualification and Training
  • NVQ level 4 in relevant subject or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Additional information
  • Willingness to undertake flexible working and out-of-hours duties where this is a requirement.
