Position: PART TIME FACULTY POOL - ANTHROPOLOGY

Barstow Community College is an open‑access, comprehensive two‑year institution serving a diverse student population in the Mojave region of San Bernardino County, California. The College s campus is located in Barstow, California, in California s high desert, between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Established in 1959, the Barstow Community College District (BCCD) covers a wide service area and serves the communities listed in the original posting. The institution also maintains a satellite learning center at the U.S. Army National Training Center in Ft. Irwin, California, serving military personnel and their families. Assignment

This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part‑time (up to 67%), substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments on an as needed basis. Part‑Time faculty applications will remain in the pool for one year. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Departments will refer to the pool of applications on file, as needed, to fill temporary assignments.

This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies. Applications for Part‑Time Instructors are always being accepted for assignments at the main campus as well as teaching online and at off‑campus sites located at Fort Irwin and at the 1509 State Street location. Assignments are at the discretion of the District.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master s in anthropology or archaeology OR Bachelor s in either of the above AND Master s in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics or paleontology OR the equivalent.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the community college level.
Equivalency

If you do not meet the minimum qualifications as stated on the Job Announcement, you must complete the equivalency form to claim the equivalent to the minimum qualifications in the discipline. It is the applicant s responsibility to provide a complete application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants with foreign transcripts must have transcripts evaluated for U.S. equivalency by recognized agencies prior to the application being included in the applicant pool. Agencies include AICE, NACES, AERC, ERES and IERF. The evaluation must be completed and attached to each application package. There is usually a fee for the evaluation service.
