Armed Healthcare Security Officer

LocationBarstow, California
HoursMonday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job SummaryThe Armed Healthcare Security Officer provides safety, security, and protection for patients, staff, visitors, and facility property at a healthcare clinic. The officer is responsible for preventing and responding to security incidents, enforcing safety protocols, protecting confidential information, and maintaining a visible deterrent presence. This is a full‑time armed position operating under California and local laws.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Patrol the clinic grounds—both interior and exterior—regularly and upon request, including parking areas, entrances/exits, waiting areas, restricted and sensitive areas.
- Monitor entry points; verify credentials, screen visitors, patients, and staff as required.
- Respond promptly, professionally, and safely to alarms, emergencies (medical, fire, security), disturbances, or suspicious activity.
- De‑escalate conflicts verbally when possible, using force only as authorized by law and clinic policy.
- Maintain logs and write detailed incident reports, observations, and security activity summaries.
- Respond to medical emergencies to the level of basic first aid/CPR if certified.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid California Guard Card with armed permit / exposed firearm permit under BSIS.
- Clean background: no disqualifying felony convictions; must pass criminal background check and drug screening.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid CA driver’s license (if part of job includes driving).
- Prior experience in healthcare security or law enforcement preferred.
- Strong judgment, ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of HIPAA/privacy regulations.
- Familiarity with safety codes, fire safety, emergency protocols.
- Reliability, punctuality, high integrity, willingness to follow chain of command.
