JOB TITLE: School Age Care Site Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Program Director and/or as assigned
FLSA TYPE: Non-Exempt, Hourly
JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Youth and Family Services Director, the Site Director is responsible for planning and implementing all activities and executing daily lesson plans for a School Age Before and After School site according to YMCA policies and procedures. The Site Coordinator will supervise site staff and their activities. The Site Coordinator will be responsible for providing a School Age program that will ensure the participants’ safety at all times and foster children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental growth and adheres to YMCA program guidelines.
The Site Coordinator will maintain positive relationships with YMCA staff, school staff, and School Age participants.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):
- Interpret and administer all policies established by the YMCA, to all members, participants, employees, etc.
- Maintain program policies and procedures
- Acknowledge and greet each member and child entering School Age Care facility.
- Use positive behavior management techniques when disciplining children.
- Implement a daily curriculum that meets YMCA guidelines and direct staff and children in the daily activities outlines; maintain weekly lesson plans, calendars, and daily record keeping including rosters
- Actively lead and engage children in activities either inside or outside program areas and during transition times
- Set up and take down program space so that area is transformed into child-friendly environment; this includes moving, cleaning, picking up and putting back furniture and equipment ensuring program space is left in organized fashion
- Supervise staff including schedules, staff coverage, and time sheets; assist in training and developing part-time staff
- Attend all staff meetings and in-service training as required by the program staff
- Develop and maintain communication with parents/guardians
- Assist in controlling and maintaining supplies and inventory on site and purchase and maintain snacks while managing an annual budget.
- Ensure the safety of children while in School Age Care
- Be punctual and dependable for shifts assigned on monthly schedule by supervisor.
- Promote YMCA programs that are offered, such as Parents’ Night Out, Day Camp, etc.
- Perform all duties with Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility, YMCA’s national core values.
- Consistently communicate with supervisor regarding daily functions
- Report problems, complaints, or concerns of members/participants to supervisor immediately.
Requirements
Required:
- At least 18 years of age
- Minimum 2 years experience working with ages 4-10
- Desire to work with children.
- Understand the nature of the YMCA as a membership organization.
- Available to work Monday - Friday 7:00am-9:00am & 3:00pm-6:00pm.
Preferred:
- High school degree or GED.
- Current CDA Certification
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
