Overview

Membership Associate - Bartlett YMCA, part-time, Bartlett, TN. The role supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit focused on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Delivers excellent service to members, guests, and program participants; responds to needs; promotes memberships and programs; maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.

• Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
• Interview and/or tour prospective members; sell memberships.
• Build relationships with members; help members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
• Handle and resolve membership concerns; inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Apply all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
• May hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required.
• Accurately report work time via approved YMCA clocking methods (branch kiosk, YMCA site phone, YMCA iPad, or timesheet).

• Attend and participate in departmental meetings
• Assist with facility tours
• Serve as a YMCA representative at special events
• Attend designated YMCA trainings and certification courses

• Minimum age of 18
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds
• Previous customer service, sales, or related experience
• Basic knowledge of computers

The part-time work schedules may vary per the Y’s hours of operation. Most Y’s are open 7 days a week:

• Mon. – Fri. 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• Sat. 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Sun. 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

• Frequently stand for long periods; may kneel or crouch
• Employees may be exposed to loud music
• Visual abilities include close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception
• Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions
• Ability to perceive, identify and respond to signs of distress
