This full-time, temporary role is based in Barton-upon-Humber and offers a clear route into professional driving. You will begin as a Driver’s Mate, learning delivery procedures alongside experienced colleagues before undertaking funded training to secure your Class 2 licence. The position involves early starts between 4am and 6am, with a salary range of £32,822 to £37,609, plus a quarterly bonus of up to £375 that increases to £750 once qualified.
As an HGV Class 2 Driver, you will handle multi-drop home deliveries, requiring reliability, physical fitness, and strong customer service. Successful candidates may move onto a permanent contract after completing their qualification.

We’re looking for reliable, hardworking individuals to join our home delivery team as a Driver’s Mate, with the opportunity to train and qualify as a Class 2 Driver. We’ll support you every step of the way, from learning the ropes on the road to becoming a fully trained, licensed professional driver.

You’ll begin as a Driver’s Mate in a 2‑person crew, delivering to customers’ homes:
- Assist with heavy, physical lifting and delivering items to the room of choice
- Make customer phone calls with delivery ETAs and log deliveries
- Ensure all items are scanned and accounted for
- Support the driver and learn the daily routine of a Class 2 role
- Report any parking/access issues to the transport team
- Maintain high standards of safety, timekeeping, and customer service
Shifts start between 4am and 6am
Expect up to 10 - 12‑hour shifts (averaging 48 hours per week)
You’ll need your own transport to get to site
What You’ll Need- A can‑do attitude, great communication, and willingness to learn
- Physically fit – this is a demanding, hands‑on job
- Maximum of 6 points on your licence (no DD, CU80, or IN)
- A DBS check will be required before starting
