Grocery Clerk

• Grocery Clerk helps customers discover items they inquire about and informs them of food specials; recommends grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise; report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads; adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Gain knowledge of products sold within the department; respond to questions and make suggestions about products; create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated.
• Reinforce safety programs; identify unsafe conditions and notify store management; practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs; notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational and cooperative manner; follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults; perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
