The Behavioral Health Consultant OPS serves within the Florida Department of Children and Families' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Program, providing clinical expertise to child welfare investigators and case managers. The role focuses on identifying and supporting parents with behavioral health conditions- particularly opioid use and substance misuse disorders- by consulting with Child Protective Investigators, educating staff on treatment options, and facilitating referrals to community services.
The consultant works in a regional office setting to strengthen the behavioral health network and improve outcomes for families in the child welfare system.
- Clinical expertise in behavioral health conditions, particularly substance use and opioid use disorders
- Ability to collaborate with child welfare investigators, case managers, and community service providers
- Knowledge of community mental health and substance abuse treatment resources and best practices
- Strong communication and engagement skills to educate staff and support families
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in fast-paced environment with independent judgment
