The Work You Will Do:

Field Operations Supervisor I

District One/District Maintenance/Bartow Operations Center

This position will supervise crews who perform a variety of roadway maintenance activities on state roads throughout Polk County, including pothole repairs, shoulder work, tree-trimming, sidewalk repairs, emergency response, etc. The Field Operations Supervisor I supports the safety and functionality of Florida’s transportation system through hands-on fieldwork and dependable service.

Annual Salary Range:

$48,372.92 - $62,600.25

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Supervises employees spending majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work. Includes the development, coordination, and participation in the roadside maintenance program. Assist the Maintenance Field Operations Manager in work need surveys by conducting routine highway maintenance inspections. Select materials, supplies, equipment, inspecting, planning workloads, workflows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization for employees.

Train crew members in the proper identification and inspection of defective areas.

Provide technical assistance and instruction on roadside defects and determine corrective action required. Supervises Department of Corrections inmates crew performing maintenance activities.

Maintain records of operation. Prepare and maintain daily paperwork such as crew activity reports, work orders and daily vehicle check lists. Complete reports and documents…
