The Gearbox Pump Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of gearbox pumps and related mechanical systems. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that equipment operates efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with gearbox pumps, and a commitment to high‑quality workmanship and safety.

• Disassembles and inspects equipment, including slurry pumps, multi‑stage split case pumps, vertical turbine pumps, overhung horizontal pumps, right angle drive gearboxes, parallel shaft gearboxes, and split line gearboxes, to determine repair requirements.
• Fills out inspection and other various reports.
• Uses pneumatic tools, hand tools, acetylene torch, drill press, and surface grinder to disassemble and assemble pumps and gearboxes.
• Reads micrometers and measuring equipment to .0005" precision.
• Ensures that required equipment and tools are functioning properly.
• Performs routine maintenance on machinery and test equipment.
• Performs housekeeping tasks as required.
• Follows written and verbal instructions.
• Works independently, following procedures with stop checks for supervisor and QC sign‑offs.
• Adheres to and follows company safety rules.
• Training is available.

• High School Diploma or GED Preferred.

• 2+ Years in Industrial Equipment Repair.

• Must have own basic hand tools.
• Ability to drive forklifts and operate overhead cranes safely.
• Knowledge of industrial applications and practices.
• Knowledge of bearing types and fitting/setting practices.
• Dependable and capable of working long hours.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, demanding environment.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
• Cooperative attitude and pleasant demeanor with colleagues.

• Days and hours of work may vary, including some evenings and weekends.

• Work is typically performed in workshops, manufacturing facilities, or industrial settings.
• Exposure to noise, mechanical hazards, and varying environmental conditions.
