Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Onsite at 3200 Highway 60 West, Bartow, FL 33830

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance (PM) on plant or mine equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturer and Mosaic standards, ensuring safety and efficiency. Your responsibilities include using hand tools, torches, welding equipment, pneumatic/electric tools, and precision measuring tools to repair or replace equipment such as pumps, fans, turbines, gearboxes, piping, conveyors, large rotating equipment, and possibly draglines and dredges.

You will follow all safety procedures including PPE, hazard analyses, lock-out/tag-out, hot work, confined space, water safety, line breaking, and work permits. Participation in safety meetings and providing feedback on workflow are essential. You will also input work requests into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Responsibilities:
  • Repair machinery and equipment as per established plans.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues.
  • Perform emergency repairs.
  • Lubricate and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Assist with rigging, operating cranes, and training on mobile equipment as needed.
  • Monitor work areas for safety and environmental issues.
  • Report safety or environmental concerns.
  • Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED; vocational training or apprenticeship preferred.
    • At least 4 years of industrial mechanical experience or completion of an accredited apprenticeship.
    • Experience in the phosphate industry is a plus.
    • Possession of or ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or in teams.
    • Adherence to safety procedures.
    • Physical ability to work in outdoor, industrial environments, including heights and heavy machinery.
