Join our Operations Bureau – Here is your opportunity to support our Field Operations Section by performing routine and preventative maintenance and corrective actions on District lands including recreation sites, well sites, fences, and buildings. Starting Compensation

Maintenance and Trades Technician 5: $19.50 - $24.86

Maintenance and Trades Technician 6: $22.13 - $28.20

The starting salary ranges reflect the minimum to approximately 50% of the respective pay grades. The starting salary will be based on education and experience. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award pay increases based on performance.

Essential Functions
  • Mows and maintains canals and waterways using tractors and heavy equipment.
  • Mows and trims around fence lines, gates, and culverts using mowers and related equipment.
  • Sprays herbicide to maintain fence lines, riprap embankments, and culverts.
  • Operates chainsaws and other handheld equipment as required.
  • Picks up and disposes of trash and debris.
  • Operates heavy trucks and trailers to transport equipment and materials.
  • Maintains District lands using heavy equipment to maintain roads, firebreaks, creeks, and natural systems.
  • Participates in prescribed burning and wildfire suppression; performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Operates, maintains and transports heavy equipment; oversees projects on District lands.
  • Completes canal inspections and maintenance, road grading, culvert installation, and low water crossings.
  • Operates forestry equipment for prescribed burning, disking, and underbrush control.
  • Participates in District emergency operations during storms, wildfires, and other emergencies.
  • Operates a range of loaders, dozers, excavators, tractors, and related equipment.
  • Enters data for timecards, work orders, vehicle/fuel logs, reports, emails, and training classes.
  • Responds to emergency management activities or incidents requiring rapid response.
Working Conditions

Physical, Visual Acuity Requirements: Heavy work, driving, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, lifting, typing, grasping, and hearing.
