Professorship in One Health

Job Title

Professorship in One Health (open rank) – University of Basel in collaboration with Swiss TPH.

• Complement and enhance the research portfolio of Swiss TPH, particularly on integrated approaches to health/One Health at the theoretical and methodological level within the Basel life sciences community.
• Contribute to teaching at the graduate and professional postgraduate level, including development and teaching of courses in integrated methods at university level.
• Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and consultation to internal and external stakeholders and policy‑makers.
• Possibly oversee animal health and welfare at Swiss TPH, ideally holding a Swiss or equivalent veterinary clinical authorization.
• Lead interdisciplinary research teams, manage complex projects and programmes in different settings, including low‑and middle‑income countries.
• Supervise MSc and PhD students.
• Provide guidance on national, regional and global policy (e.g. WHO guidelines and policy briefs).
• Develop and nurture productive research partnerships, especially in resource‑constrained settings.

• Proven track record in research and acquisition of competitive research funding.
• High‑quality, impactful publications; distinct teaching portfolio.
• Experience developing and teaching integrated methods courses at university level.
• Evidence of supervising MSc and PhD students.
• Advanced interpersonal skills in fostering research partnerships.
• Fluency in English and at least one national language in Switzerland (German, French, or Italian).
• Holding a Swiss or equivalent veterinary clinical authorization is an asset.
