Role Description
  • Reporting to the Director Nautical Compliance, the Nautical Education Manager is responsible for the design, delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of Nautical training programs across Viking’s river fleet.
  • Lead the annual training cycle, including newcomer, repeater, rank progression, and Season Start Training programs, ensuring alignment with operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the annual training calendar, trainer resourcing, and training logistics to ensure effective delivery across onboard, classroom, and digital learning environments.
  • Lead the Nautical Training Administrators team and drive high-quality learning solutions through collaboration with Nautical Operations, Learning & Development, subject matter experts, and external training partners.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve nautical training programs across classroom, onboard, and digital learning environments.
  • Deliver engaging instructor‑led and virtual training sessions while ensuring learning content reflects operational, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead the planning and coordination of the annual training calendar, instructor resources, logistics, and learning administration.
  • Manage and coach the Nautical Training Administration team, ensuring efficient delivery of training activities.
  • Partner with Nautical Operations, Learning & Development, subject matter experts, and external providers to deliver high‑quality learning solutions.
  • Translate technical expertise into engaging, structured learning experiences using sound instructional design principles.
  • Drive continuous improvement of training processes, quality standards, learning technologies, and the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Monitor learning completion, training effectiveness, and reporting to support operational excellence.
Key Qualifications
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and delivering learning programs in a professional environment.
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience delivering classroom, virtual, or blended learning.
  • Ability to transform technical subject matter into engaging, learner‑focused training.
  • Experience planning multiple learning initiatives and coordinating resources in a dynamic environment.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate a team.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and adaptable with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Articulate 360, and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Fluent in English;
    German or French is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 30%.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in Learning and Development, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
