Project Manager - Process and API

Overview

For one of our clients in the pharmaceutical and chemical process industry, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead complex projects in API manufacturing, powder handling, and robotics-enabled automation within a GMP-regulated environment.

In this role, you will own projects from initiation to handover, acting as the central coordination point between chemists (users), engineering and automation teams, operations, quality, and external suppliers. The focus is on project leadership, stakeholder coordination, and delivery
, ensuring that technical solutions meet user needs, timelines, budgets, and GMP requirements.
Fluent German is essential for day-to-day communication on site.

Your mission is to plan, manage, and deliver cross-functional projects in API and powder handling environments, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, quality, and compliance are aligned, while coordinating technical experts and external partners toward successful execution.

• Lead and manage projects end-to-end
  , from requirements gathering and planning through execution, commissioning, and handover
• Act as the primary interface for users and stakeholders
  , ensuring clear communication, alignment, and expectation management
• Structure and translate user needs into URS
  , with a strong focus on API production, powder handling, containment, and GMP compliance
• Define project scope, timelines, milestones, resources, and risks; actively manage changes and dependencies
• Coordinate internal teams (engineering, automation, operations, QA) and external vendors, system integrators, and contractors
• Ensure project delivery in line with GMP, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
• Monitor progress, costs, risks, and issues; report transparently to stakeholders and management
• Oversee installation, qualification, validation, and commissioning activities together with technical experts
• Support technical decision-making and escalation, without being responsible for detailed plant design
• Ensure proper documentation, change management, and handover to operations
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related technical field
• Strong project management experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, or GMP-regulated environments
• Proven exposure to API manufacturing, powder handling, solid handling, and containment systems
• Solid understanding of GMP-regulated project execution
• Ability to challenge and align technical solutions at a high level (hands-on design not required)
• Fluent German (C1 or equivalent) is mandatory for daily on-site communication
• English proficiency required for international collaboration
• Structured, assertive, and solution-oriented with excellent communication skills
