Plant Engineer

ARTO have partnered with a Pharma/Biotech company based in Basel who are looking for 1-2 Plant Engineers. The duration will be for 3 months and looking for Engineers to start as soon as possible.

Reinforce the plant engineering team to close gaps in operational readiness, primarily by writing and improving SOPs and technical documentation for utilities and equipment, ensuring the new facility is ready for sustained GMP operations.

• Write and refine SOPs for black and clean utilities.
• Write and refine SOPs for small devices and equipment (e.g., pumps, utility skids, supporting systems).
• Review and rework existing SOPs from construction/vendors, replacing low-quality or generic vendor SOPs with practical, site-specific procedures.
• Align documentation with project and quality requirements, ensuring consistency and usability on the shop floor.

• Support operational readiness activities post-engineering batches.
• Ensure equipment and utilities are ready for routine use.
• Support IQ/QO-like activities "together with our guys" to verify SOPs against reality.
• Identify documentation gaps across the system/device landscape and help prioritize closure.

• Solid background (ideally 5+ years) as a Plant Engineer / Utilities Engineer / Maintenance Engineer in a GMP pharma/biotech environment.
• Proven experience with black and clean utility systems.
• Proven experience with mechanical and basic electrical equipment.
• Proven experience bringing new or modified systems into operation.

• Understanding of GMP requirements for utilities and equipment.
• Comfortable reviewing vendor documentation and translating it into site-usable SOPs.
• Experience supporting IQ/OQ or similar commissioning/qualification activities.
