Job Description
Specialist responsible for creating the initial, prototype versions of aircraft seats and their components. This involves translating design concepts into tangible, functional prototypes, allowing for testing, refinement, and ultimately, the creation of the final, luxurious seating for high‑end aircraft.
Responsibilities- Translating Design: Work with designers, engineers, and clients to understand the desired aesthetics, comfort, and functionality of the seats.
- Material Selection and Fabrication: Experiment with different materials, such as leather, fabrics and foams, shaping and combining them to create prototypes that meet the design specifications.
- 3D Modeling and Prototyping: Knowledge in 3D modeling software to create digital templates.
- Testing and Refinement: Conduct testing on the prototypes, including comfort assessments and fit checks, to identify areas for improvement and ensure the final product meets the highest standards.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with other team members, including designers, engineers, and production staff, to ensure the prototype is accurately translated into a final, manufacturable product.
- Problem Solving: Play a vital role in identifying and addressing any design or manufacturing challenges that arise during the prototyping phase.
- Ensuring Highest Quality: Ensure the seats meet the demanding standards of luxury aviation, including comfort, durability and aesthetics.
- Upholstery apprenticeship completed or equivalent certificate or diploma.
- Working experience in a similar position (5+ years).
- Experience in the Aviation Industry is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings / technical instructions and technical processes.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship throughout all duties.
- Good English skills (verbal and written);
French is a plus. - Strong organization & communication skills.
- Flexibility, ability to work in a team.
