We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join the Product Development team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative dental implant systems, prosthetic components, and surgical solutions. Working within a cross-functional environment, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with R&D, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Operations, Marketing, clinicians, and external partners to bring new products from concept through to industrialisation.

About

the Role

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for the design, development, verification, validation, and industrialisation of dental implant systems and related surgical products. The role supports the full product lifecycle while ensuring compliance with applicable quality, regulatory, and design control requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop dental implant products, prosthetic components, and surgical instruments in accordance with Design Controls and company development processes.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, clinicians, and customers to define and deliver innovative product solutions.
  • Support concept development, feasibility studies, design optimisation, and competitive product assessments.
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, product specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Perform tolerance analyses and engineering calculations to ensure product performance and manufacturability.
  • Prepare and maintain Design History Files (DHF) and associated development records.
  • Review technical documentation, including device and packaging specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management and regulatory requirements.
  • Support design reviews and risk management activities.
  • Plan and support verification and validation testing, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Participate in design transfer and product industrialisation activities.
  • Analyse product feedback and performance data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate competitor products and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinate benchmarking and testing activities to support product development and strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Completed further education as a Higher Technical College (HF) technician, University of Applied Sciences (FH) engineer, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Professional experience in precision mechanical design, preferably within dentistry, dental devices, or medical technology.
  • Experience in mechanical design and product development within a regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD design using Solid Works or equivalent software.
  • Experience with Design Controls and Design History File (DHF) management.
  • Knowledge of tolerance analysis and Design for Manufacturability (DfM).
  • Experience supporting medical device verification and validation activities.
  • Understanding of risk management methodologies and engineering problem-solving techniques.
