Our client is a well-established international private banking and asset management group with a strong presence across key financial centres. The organisation combines the stability and heritage of a long-standing financial institution with an entrepreneurial approach to investment and client service. The team operates in an international environment where collaboration, personal accountability and high professional standards are important. There is also a clear focus on sustainable investment and creating long-term value for clients.

Position:

This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded, long-established financial institution combining stability, innovation and an entrepreneurial culture — based in the beautiful Swiss city of Basel.

This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded, long-established financial institution combining stability, innovation and an entrepreneurial culture — based in the beautiful Swiss city of Basel.

We are currently looking for an experienced Risk & Performance Specialist to join an established analytics function supporting Asset Management. This is a role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of investment risk, performance analysis, data and portfolio management. You will have exposure to a broad range of investment strategies and will play an important role in turning complex portfolio data into meaningful insight for investment and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Carry out both forward-looking and historical risk analysis across equity, fixed income, multi-asset and alternative investment strategies
  • Assess portfolio exposures including VaR, tracking error, factor risk, concentration and liquidity
  • Prepare performance attribution and contribution analysis, translating results into clear investment insights
  • Work closely with Portfolio Management, Investment Compliance and Operations to maintain robust data quality and ensure reporting is delivered accurately and on time
  • Support the continued enhancement of risk and performance analytics, including methodologies, tools and underlying infrastructure
  • Present findings and analysis to relevant internal stakeholders, including investment professionals and senior management
  • Contribute ideas and practical solutions to improve the way investment risk and performance are measured and communicated
Why apply?

This is an opportunity to join a sophisticated investment environment where your analysis will have direct relevance to portfolio decisions and senior stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to work across multiple asset classes rather than being restricted to a narrow product area, while also contributing to the evolution of the firm's risk and performance capabilities. The culture is suited to someone who takes ownership, enjoys solving problems pragmatically and values accuracy without losing sight of the bigger investment picture.

An entrepreneurial mindset, integrity and a collaborative approach are valued, alongside the opportunity to develop professionally within an international organisation.

Your Profile:
  • A university or equivalent higher education qualification in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or a related discipline
  • 5+ years' relevant experience in investment risk, performance analysis, investment analytics or a related field
  • Strong understanding of portfolio risk and performance measurement, ideally across multiple asset classes
  • A hands-on, “get things done” mindset, with the initiative and flexibility to roll up their sleeves, take ownership and find practical solutions
  • Experience with Bloomberg PORT Enterprise or a comparable platform, alongside Bloomberg and other relevant investment analytics tools
  • Working knowledge of Python and SQL a must
  • Professional qualifications such as FRM, CFA, CAIA or CIPM would be advantageous
  • A pragmatic, analytical and detail-oriented approach, with strong communication skills and a focus on data accuracy
  • Fluent English;
German would be a plus but not a must
  • Swiss work permit eligibility required; cross-border candidates are welcome. The role is fully office-based, with a commitment to living in or near Basel expected
