Position

Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) is a global organisation of approximately 3,000 colleagues across six Innovation Centres covering multiple disease areas, with the aim of translating science into transformative medicines for patients. Within this exciting and dynamic environment, pRED Communications operates as a high‑impact team of strategic business partners.

Opportunity
  • Strategic advisory:
    Act as a core communications strategic adviser and valued Leadership Team member for a designated portfolio within pRED. Translate business strategy into high-impact communication blueprints that resonate from the lab benches to the leadership community and beyond. Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders and ensure communications are integrated into the business decision‑making process.
  • Cross‑functional impact:
    Identify the need for, lead and execute both internal and external communication strategies to continue to position pRED and Roche at the forefront of science in healthcare. Work as part of a Business Partnering team to align across a global network to deliver a unified communications approach.
  • Culture and change catalyst:
    Lead communications initiatives around organisational transformation and development, as well as behavioural and culture evolution across different parts of the pRED network.
  • Collaborative partnership:
    Work in partnership with colleagues from across Roche Group Communications (GC), bringing in additional expertise from distinct “Centres of Excellence”, for example in media relations, social media or employee engagement, as well as collaborating with colleagues from the wider Pharma Communications team to co‑create world‑class communications.
Who you are
  • Experience:

    8+ years in scientific, technical, or corporate communications within the Pharma/Biotech or related highly regulated industries; direct experience in a science or healthcare communications environment is strongly preferred.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required (Journalism, Communications, Science, or Business);
    Master’s degree desirable.
  • Executive influence:
    Proven track record of navigating matrixed environments and advising c‑Suite, with the ability to challenge status‑quo thinking constructively.
  • Operational passion:
    Genuine interest in the “how” of pharma—the science, the manufacturing, and the complexity of end‑to‑end processes that serve our patients.
  • Architect and catalyst mindset:
    Design communication strategies that facilitate change, make impact and foster rigorous professional debate, both inside and outside of the organisation.
  • Communication mastery:
    Exceptional storytelling skills with the ability to make complex technical or operational topics relatable and inspiring.
  • Language:
    Fluency in English is mandatory;
    German can be an advantage given our global headquarters is in Basel, Switzerland.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 20%.
