Research Assistant/Associate, Research Scientist

Dr. Loreen Tisdall (Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences,(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) at the Faculty of Psychology is seeking one highly motivated Student Research Assistant to support an original research project examining age differences in how individuals assess public spaces in terms of safety and crime risk, as well as the role of specific environmental cues (e.g., visibility, lighting, decay and disorder) in shaping these judgments.
This is a EUCOR-funded project that combines online studies and laboratory experiments, and employs a variety of methods, including naturalistic images of public places, AI-driven language analysis, and cognitive modeling.
Your position
One student research assistant position of 6 hours per week. The appointment is for 12 months, starting 1 September 2026. The successful candidate will support both online and laboratory components of the research project. They will assist in curating stimulus sets, designing and administering studies, including participant recruitment and data management. They will also engage with open science practices and ensure ethical standards and participant welfare are maintained throughout.Your profile
The ideal candidate will have completed a Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related discipline and demonstrate a strong interest in developmental perspectives on judgment and decision-making. Applicants should be familiar with programming online experiments (e.g., using So Sci Survey or Lime Survey), and have experience with statistical programming in R. Candidates should have excellent organizational and communication skills, and be willing to work collaboratively within a research team.Prior experience with image processing tools is an asset but not required. Fluency in both English and German is required.
