Data Analytics Engineer – Hadoop, Python, Cloudera

vacancy for our Basel based client in the Banking sector

• Develop code and implement end-to-end data pipelines with optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from diverse sources using Spark, SQL and other modern technologies
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to identify, capture, and analyse requirements, translating them into effective technical solutions
• Contribute to the design and evolution of the overall data architecture, ensuring alignment with modern data management practices
• Maintain and support data pipelines on shared data platforms, while incorporating business rules, security and retention requirements
• Support proof of concepts, stay current with industry standards and assist with the adoption of new technologies in the data platform area

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience working with modern data technologies, including building data ingestion pipelines for data warehouses or lake/lakehouse architectures
• Proven experience with Python and open‑source data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Kafka, or similar, preferably with Cloudera
• Strong background in data modelling, design patterns, and building scalable applications
• Experience with in banking/financial institutions, with knowledge of financial instruments, trade lifecycle, or risk management is an advantage
• Language skills:
  English
• Valid Swiss work permit required. Candidates must be Swiss nationals, EU citizens, or current work‑permit holders for Switzerland

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms
• Collaborative mindset and capacity to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement
