We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our vibrant school in Basildon. This role offers the opportunity to support and inspire students with additional needs.
About the SchoolOur mainstream primary school is a vibrant and inclusive educational community dedicated to providing an outstanding learning environment for students with a diverse range of needs. We work with a student who has Additional Needs (ASD) on a 1‑2‑1 basis, aiming to challenge, enrich, and empower every learner.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each student, reviewing and adjusting them regularly.
- Provide individual and small group interventions to help students improve their knowledge and skills using evidence‑based strategies.
- Teach and reinforce effective study techniques, encouraging positive interactions and modelling appropriate behaviour.
- Work alongside classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain detailed records of students’ progress and interventions, providing regular updates to teachers, parents, and relevant parties.
- Collaborate with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families.
- Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, particularly in an SEN setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education are desirable.
- Must possess strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection, and successfully satisfy all background checks, including an enhanced DBS certificate or a new check application.
