If you can command a classroom, build positive relationships with young people, and inspire students to stay focused on their learning, you may be a good fit for this Cover Supervisor role. We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, and proactive teacher who can deliver a positive learning environment in a secondary school in Grays.
As a Cover Supervisor you will supervise classes during short‑term absences of teachers, ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and on task. You will also deliver pre‑planned lessons across a variety of secondary subjects, manage classroom behaviour, support students with classwork, encourage student progress and independence, provide feedback to teaching staff, support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, promote safeguarding, assist with exam invigilation, school trips, enrichment activities, and wider school events as required.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise whole‑class learning during teacher absences
- Deliver pre‑planned lessons across a variety of secondary subjects
- Maintain strong classroom behaviour management and positive learning environments
- Support students with classwork, engagement, and lesson participation
- Encourage student progress, confidence, and independent learning
- Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student behaviour and attainment
- Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Promote positive behaviour, safeguarding, and high expectations throughout the school day
- Assist with exam invigilation, school trips, enrichment activities, and wider school events where required
- Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
- Confident managing classroom behaviour and leading groups of young people
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Flexible, adaptable, and resilient within a fast‑paced secondary school environment
- A passion for education, student wellbeing, and supporting young people's development
- Previous experience working with young people, schools, sports coaching, tutoring, mentoring, or youth work is desirable but not essential
