As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join our Basildon team to support our activities within the automotive engineering sector.
You will play a key role in the design and development of automotive components and systems, supporting projects from concept through to production. In addition to delivering design solutions, you will act as a technical reference for CATIA V6, providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers within the team.
- Experience Level: Mid - Senior Level (minimum 3years CATIA V6 experience)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop mechanical designs and 3D models for automotive components and assemblies
- Create detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation using CATIA V6
- Support product development activities from concept through to production release
- Participate in design reviews and engineering problem-solving activities
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers on CATIA V6 best practices
- Support design governance, configuration management, and change control activities
Required Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on CATIA V6 experience in an engineering environment
- Strong mechanical design engineering experience within the automotive sector
- Ability to mentor and support other engineers in the use of CATIA V6
- Experience creating and managing complex parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings
- Good understanding of design for manufacture and engineering best practices
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Experience delivering mechanical design solutions within a product development environment
- Demonstrable experience supporting projects from design through to release
- Experience using 3
DEXPERIENCE (3DX) - Knowledge of automotive product development processes
- Experience working within a PLM-managed environment
- Previous experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting junior engineers
