Senior Governance Officer

Location: Basildon, Essex
Contract: Temporary, up to 6 months
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Pay Rate: £22.60 per hour

Noble Recruiting are recruiting a Senior Governance Officer in Basildon for a 6-month temporary contract within a local authority setting.

This Senior Governance Officer job will support Cabinet, Committees and Elected Members, ensuring council meetings are managed in line with legislative and constitutional requirements.

• Service Cabinet, Committee and Sub-Committee meetings
• Manage quasi-judicial hearings and panel meetings
• Prepare and publish council agendas within statutory deadlines
• Provide governance, procedural and constitutional advice to Members
• Draft reports and produce formal committee minutes
• Ensure compliance with council constitution and local government legislation

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Democratic Services or Governance
• Experience supporting Elected Members in a local authority
• Strong knowledge of council governance procedures
• Excellent report writing and minute-taking skills
• Ability to manage strict legislative deadlines
