We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Manager to lead and develop an innovative staged Crisis-to-Independence Pathway for children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This unique pathway begins with a 2-bed solo crisis home
, progresses to a 4-bed stabilisation home
, and ultimately supports young people to transition into supported living and independence
.
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident leader who is passionate about trauma-informed practice, reducing restrictive interventions, and building high-quality services from crisis through to independence.
Key Responsibilities Crisis Provision – 2-Bed Solo EBD Service- Lead a high-intensity, trauma-informed crisis placement service.
- Stabilise children experiencing placement breakdown, high-risk behaviours, and exploitation risks.
- Ensure Regulation 13 compliance and actively reduce restrictive practices.
- Maintain Ofsted readiness at all times.
- Contribute to service design and operational readiness.
- Implement structured and therapeutic step-down planning.
- Support staffing growth, mentoring, and leadership development.
- Prepare young people emotionally and practically for independence.
- Develop life skills programmes, and education and employment engagement plans.
- Support effective risk management within community settings.
- Embed trauma-informed care across the entire pathway.
- Champion "behaviour as communication".
- Lead de-escalation and preventative planning approaches.
- Monitor, review, and reduce restrictive practices across services.
Candidates must hold, or be willing to complete:
- Accredited Physical Intervention (Team Teach / CPI / PRICE or equivalent)
- Trauma-Informed Practice
- Attachment Theory & Developmental Trauma
- De-escalation & Crisis Intervention
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Managing Self-Harm & Suicide Risk
- Contextual Safeguarding & Exploitation
- Reflective Supervision Practice
- Restorative Approaches
- Therapeutic Communication (PACE-informed desirable)
- Full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Strong safeguarding leadership and oversight.
- Timely notifications, reporting, and statutory compliance.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
- Minimum 5 years’ residential childcare experience (including 2 years in management).
- Experience managing high-risk EBD placements.
- Demonstrable success in reducing restrictive practices.
- Experience leading Ofsted inspections.
- Experience opening new homes.
- Experience in supported living services.
- Experience working within therapeutic models (PACE, PBS).
- Experience designing and building multi-service pathways.
