Import Operations / Administration Clerk
Location:
Basildon, Essex
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full Time | Permanent
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Our client, a well-established freight forwarding company based in Basildon, is looking to recruit an Import Operations / Administration Clerk to join their busy Import Department.
The RoleWorking as part of the Import Operations team, you will be responsible for managing import shipments from arrival through to final delivery, ensuring all documentation is processed accurately and customers receive a first-class service.
Key Responsibilities- Managing import shipments from start to finish.
- Receiving and processing pre-alerts from overseas partners.
- Creating and updating jobs on the company's internal freight forwarding system.
- Liaising with customers to obtain documentation required for customs clearance.
- Preparing import documentation for customs entries.
- Coordinating deliveries with transport providers.
- Monitoring shipments and keeping customers updated throughout the process.
- Raising invoices and ensuring files are completed accurately.
- Building strong relationships with customers, overseas agents and suppliers.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working within a freight forwarding or logistics operations department.
- Experience handling import shipments from start to finish.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple shipments and prioritise workload effectively.
- Good IT skills and experience using freight forwarding systems.
- Knowledge of the Customs Declaration Service (CDS).
- Experience processing customs entries.
- Previous experience within an import freight forwarding environment.
- Salary of £28,000 - £30,000, depending on experience.
- Monday to Friday working hours (9:00am - 5:00pm).
- 20 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
