Night Shift Maintenance Engineer

Job Title – Night Shift Maintenance Engineer. Location – Basildon, Essex. Salary – £52,634. Shift – Nights (10pm – 6am, Mon‑Fri, flexibility available).

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Night Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a large‑scale, highly automated manufacturing facility within a globally recognised organisation. This site has recently seen significant investment and offers a modern, open‑plan production environment with excellent long‑term career prospects.

Working as part of a small, skilled night engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across complex production lines. This is a key role focused on maximising equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

The site operates advanced, high‑speed processes including chemical handling, heating, and precision manufacturing, offering engineers exposure to specialist equipment within a COMAH‑regulated environment.

Sector – Industrial Manufacturing.

Non‑Negotiable Requirements
  • Maintenance experience within a manufacturing or forces background
  • Level3 in Engineering or above
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience with PPM systems and continuous improvement
  • Understanding of Health & Safety regulations within manufacturing
  • Engineering qualification (apprentice trained or equivalent)
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience working in a COMAH or highly regulated environment
  • Exposure to high‑speed or automated production lines
  • Basic electrical fault‑finding capability
  • Experience using CMMS systems
