An exciting opportunity has arisen at MSE for a Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Vascular Service. You will be required to work across the different hospital sites of Mid and South Essex Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, specifically at the Basildon and Southend sites.
The Vascular Service is looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced nurse to work in conjunction with the Vascular multi‑disciplinary team who is focused on providing high‑quality care. This role suited to someone with excellent communication skills, a good understanding of change management, and a flexible approach to working.
You will work autonomously as well as part of the team, with potential to develop the role. Responsibilities include providing specialist nursing care, education and support for individuals with vascular conditions as both inpatients and outpatients, and working closely with nursing, vascular surgical and allied health professionals within the clinical division.
You will liaise with the multi‑disciplinary teams (MDT), GP and community teams to promote a holistic and personalised approach to care that is well coordinated and integrated.

Main duties of the jobThe key to providing a high‑quality service is a credible nursing presence that can provide inspiration, leadership and proactive management. The Vascular Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will therefore be a highly visible and accessible professional, with a demonstrable commitment to improving the quality of patient care across MSEFT.
You will need to be an experienced nurse who supports the Lead Vascular CNS to deliver the MSEFT Vascular service autonomously. Core responsibilities include assessing Vascular inpatients and outpatients, taking initial history, performing clinical assessment, diagnosing, treating and evaluating care, while demonstrating safe, senior clinical decision‑making and expert care. You will collaborate with the Lead Vascular CNS and Vascular Team to meet patient needs and play a key role in service delivery and adherence to policy and procedures.
You will work as an integral part of the multi‑disciplinary team both at the Arterial Hub – Basildon Hospital and our Network site.

Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Nurse
- Teaching or leadership management experience
- Specialist interest in vascular surgery/nursing
- Master's level education
- Clinical experience within an acute area band 6 or above
- Sound knowledge of Vascular Conditions and their management as per national guidance
- Pharmacological knowledge of commonly used medications for cardiovascular disease
- Experience in research/audit
