Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you wanting to pursue a career in Cardiology nursing practice? We are looking for a forward thinking proactive Staff Nurse to join us on Roding Ward. Roding Ward is our Cardiac Care Unit that incorporates a high dependency unit for patients requiring acute cardiology care.

We welcome applications from current Staff Nurses and Student Nurses with an interest in Cardiology who have completed a cardiology placement.

Roding Ward is based in the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre on the Basildon Hospital site and is the base for the Essex Heart Attack Service covering Essex, Suffolk and London borders.

It is an exciting area to work, managing patients requiring cardiac intervention procedures, device implants and arrhythmia management.

Main duties of the job

In your new role you will have the unique opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive environment with a dedicated practice facilitator in post as part of the established ward team.

The cardiac centre has also devised its own development programme supporting nurses new to cardiology, making opportunities available to you to undertake further studies within the trust and the affiliated university.

It is the commitment, professionalism and dedication of staff working for the benefit of the people the NHS serves that really makes the difference. So if you are willing to go the extra mile to make patients feel important and always ensure that your colleagues are valued then we would like you to apply now.

Your role will be to provide and maintain the highest possible standard of nursing care for the patients and their families by ensuring that an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the patients.

You will be assessing, developing and implementing patient care plans whilst evaluating care given, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately, and giving and receiving patient‑centred handovers.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well‑being of our patients, and to provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
