Due to the expansion of our services in Colne ward, the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit within the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre is seeking a Senior Nurse to support the growing nursing team.

As a Charge Nurse you will work as a skilled member of the Cardiothoracic Critical Care team (including cardiothoracic recovery) to assist and lead in the provision of care to patients and families, including assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients and following the agreed care pathway.

You will consolidate and maintain good unit management and organisational skills, lead and assist with the provision of an environment conducive to the education of all staff, and offer support, guidance and teaching to less experienced members of the critical care team.

Your role will involve practicing with increased professional autonomy and assuming greater responsibility for decision‑making within the clinical setting, supported by agreed integrated care pathways (ICPs), protocols and patient group directives.

• ITU course
• Registered Nurse
• Recognised teaching/mentorship/Practice Assessor course

• Previous experience working in Critical Care
• Cardiothoracic Critical Care/Cardiology experience

£39,959 a year, pro rata for part time.
