We are looking for an experienced and newly qualified social worker (NQSW) to join our South Essex Neighbourhood team. The starting salary for a NQSW is £36,124 per annum, rising to £38,487 per annum upon successful completion of the ASYE programme.
About the TeamThe team operates primarily across Canvey, Benfleet and surrounding areas as part of a Neighbourhood approach, linking closely with partners in health, housing and the voluntary sector. They work with people aged 18 and above across all specialisms, undertaking a wide range of duties under the Care Act 2014, including assessments, reviews, mental capacity assessments and adult safeguarding.
The role offers hybrid working, with an expectation to be office based at Ely House in Basildon around 2 to 3 days per week depending on business need for collaborative team working and training.
About YouYou are a registered social worker with Social Work England, possessing a strong combination of creative thinking, reliability and practical ability to get things done. You have a broad understanding of statutory responsibilities and a commitment to meeting them in a person‑centred way. You may have experience chairing meetings and can develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community to provide a supportive framework.
Our local area requires regular travel. A driving licence and possession of a car – or the ability to meet mobility requirements through other means – is essential.
Responsibilities- Undertake assessments, reviews and support planning for adults aged 18 and over in accordance with the Care Act 2014.
- Conduct mental capacity assessments and adult safeguarding activities.
- Engage with service users, their families and community partners to develop person‑centred care plans.
- Work collaboratively within the Neighbourhood Team and health, housing and voluntary sector partners.
- Maintain accurate records and reports in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
- Registered with Social Work England (or qualifying soon).
- Experience of working with adults under the Care Act 2014.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to travel locally across Essex.
