Position: HMCTS - PSR2 Operational Support Officer Roles

Administrative Officer (AO)

Location: Basingstoke
Pay Rate: £12.86 per hour
Assignment: Temporary (With strong potential for extension)
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full-time, office based

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an Administrative Officer (AO) to join a busy Magistrates Court in Basingstoke. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable experience within a respected public sector organisation while developing strong administrative and customer service skills.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play an important part in supporting the day‑to‑day operation of the court.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Providing administrative support to ensure the smooth running of court operations
  • Preparing and processing legal documents accurately and efficiently
  • Managing emails, calls, filing, and general office tasks
  • Liaising with court staff, legal professionals, and external stakeholders
  • Delivering a professional and courteous service to members of the public
  • Assisting with court hearings, including occasional ushering duties
  • Processing payments and updating court records
  • Supporting virtual hearings (CVP) where required
What We're Looking For
  • Previous administrative experience (ideally 1-2 years, but transferable skills considered)
  • Strong communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage a varied workload
  • A professional, calm and approachable manner, particularly when dealing with the public
Qualifications
  • GCSEs (A*‑C) or equivalent, or relevant administrative experience
