We are recruiting for a high-impact Buyer / Planner role within a complex manufacturing environment. This position sits at the heart of procurement, supply planning, and production continuity, offering significant ownership and exposure without line management responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:Buying & Supply Planning
- Own and manage the end-to-end supply programme aligned to the production schedule
- Raise and manage purchase orders via ERP system, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
- Plan and maintain inventory levels in line with forecast and demand
- Run RFQs, analyse supplier quotations, and make commercially sound sourcing recommendations
- Work closely with logistics to ensure delivery schedules meet operational requirements
- Build strong supplier relationships to ensure performance, reliability, and value
- Monitor supplier performance using scorecards
- Lead supplier review meetings and drive continuous improvement actions
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, planning, and logistics teams
- Identify risks to supply and proactively implement solutions to avoid disruption
- Provide market insights and capacity considerations to support planning and commercial decisions
- Support planning cycles with data on supply capability and constraints
- Experience in procurement, buying, planning, supply chain within a manufacturing setting
- Experience using ERP systems (e.g. SAP or similar)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confident communicator, able to engage stakeholders internally and externally
- Commercially aware with experience in supplier negotiation and performance management
- Proactive, resilient, and solutions-focused under pressure
- Relevant professional qualification (eg. CIPS) preferred
