We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Dental Nurse to join our expanding Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic Department on a full-time basis. This varied and rewarding role also provides the opportunity to support our Head and Neck specialties as required.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working individual with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for patient care. Putting patients at the heart of everything you do is essential, alongside a warm, compassionate approach and the ability to build trust with people from all walks of life.

This role would suit a highly motivated team player with the skills and sensitivity to support patients who may experience dental anxiety or have complex needs. Strong organisational abilities, good manual dexterity, and the confidence to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team are key to succeeding in this position.

The primary base for this role is the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital
, with some flexibility required to provide occasional cross-site support at Royal Hampshire County Hospital as part of our wider team.

Main duties of the job
  • To be responsible for providing assistance to the consultants and colleagues in all Head and Neck specialties.
  • To assist and maintain efficient and effective care of patients in line with best practice and current guidelines.
  • To ensure the highest standards of hygiene is always maintained in line with Trust guidelines and policies.
  • To prepare clinical areas with specialist equipment and supplies ready for the Consultant clinic team. Along with preparing clinics in advance to ensure an organised smooth-running department as possible, which will include checking results have been received in time resulting in communication with other departments being required from time to time.
  • Supporting Maxillofacial theatre lists in Treatment Centre.
  • If appropriately qualified carry out dental radiological examinations as indicated and adhering to the Radiological Guidelines.
  • Support and assist orthodontic clinicians

Job responsibilities

The successful applicant will assist with the day to day running of the department and provide chairside support, so that a high quality, efficient patient care is delivered at all times, whilst ensuring compliance is maintained to a gold standard.

Person Specification Training & Qualifications
  • Registered Dental Nurse with GDC
  • NEBDN qualification or an appropriate professional qualification or equivalent
