We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant to join our established team of Diabetes and Endocrinology specialists, providing high-quality, patient-centred care across North and Mid Hampshire. The successful candidate will join a department of experienced consultants and a growing multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery and development of both inpatient and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrinology services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide consultant leadership across Diabetes and Endocrinology services, supporting:

  • Specialist inpatient Diabetes and Endocrinology care
  • General medical ward support within a 25-bedded medical ward
  • Triage of referrals and Advice & Guidance requests
  • Inpatient Diabetes and Endocrine reviews
  • Specialist outpatient clinics in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Diabetic Foot services
  • Multidisciplinary team working alongside specialist nurses, dietitians, resident doctors and wider healthcare professionals
  • Teaching, training and supervision of junior medical staff
  • Clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives

There are opportunities to further develop specialist interests including:

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Locum Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology will provide specialist clinical leadership and high-quality care across Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working primarily at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital whilst supporting services across Winchester, Andover and community sites. The post holder will join an established team of consultants delivering inpatient and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrinology services, alongside support for General Internal Medicine.
